Juniors and Seniors new college visits posted in Naviance; April visits include Liberty University.  Please register in Naviance.

Penn State Harrisburg will hold an undergraduate Open House on Saturday, April 6. The formal program begins at 9 AM, information 717-948-6250, hbgadmit@psu.edu, or visit.psu.edu/harrisburg. Open house attendees receive an application fee waiver.* (Not available if using the Common or Coalition applications).

York College of PA will hold an Open House on  Saturday, April 6. Register today www.ycp.edu/jrpreviewday.

Immediate job opening for any junior student interested in co-op as a senior next year for Keystone Candle at 7241 Paxton Street in Harrisburg. They are looking for factory work which involves making, wrapping, boxing, and packing candles. They hand pour, hand dip, and hand wrap all of their candles.  The pay is $9.00/hour. MILITARY & RELATED

U.S. Service Academy night will be held Tuesday, April 23, 5:30-8:00 PM at Central Dauphin East Senior High School, 626 Rutherford Road, Harrisburg.

The US Naval Academy (Central PA Parents' Club) will host a bus tour to the academy on Saturday, March 30 for students and parents.  Contact Mrs. Weber in the Counseling office for an information sheet.  Seats fill early on a first come basis.  Call Joe Innerst at 717-938-4010.

The military recruiters schedule routine lunch visits in the high school, schedule posted on Counseling tab or check with Mrs. Weber 717-566-5331 or email kweber@.ldsd.org.

SCHOLARSHIPS/AWARDS

Seniors please note that scholarship applications and attachments being submitted to the Counseling office must be submitted (in person or received electronically) no later than 2:30 PM by the day of the deadline. It is preferred and appreciated that applications arrive prior to the day of deadline to allow processing time. Please read important scholarship information to be sure you are submitting the required documents. There is no one in the Counseling office to process your applications after the school day. Thank you for allowing us to assist you.   GOOD LUCK!

Seniors please check Naviance regularly for recently updated scholarships. Complete applications carefully and neatly, submit ontime to correct location.  Neatlness and organization can be the key to your success. 

Brownstone Masonic Scholarship, deadline March 15. Please note this is a change from the original April 15th deadline. 

Capital Area Education Association $500 award to senior planning enrollment in program leading to degree in Special Education, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Adaptive Physical Education,  or School Psychology with the intent of working w/students w/special needs. Applications due to organization by April 15.

Econ Wealth Management for student-athlete planning two or four year higher education, majoring in a business-related field, minimum GPA 80%. Applicants must have participated in school anc community activities.  Deadline March 25.

Harrisburg Area Civic Garden Center for Horticulture, Floriculture, Landscape Design, Botany, Biology, Forestry, Agronomy, Conservation, Plant Pathology, , Environmental Concerns, City Planning and other allied subjects. Deadline April 1.

Harrisburg Cedarettes offers two $500 scholarships for seniors planning to attend HACC to pursue a career in the Healthcare field; Nursing, EMT, Dental, Med. Asst., Lab Tech.  Deadline is March 29.

Hershey Area Art Assn for individuals in Dauphin or Lebanon county planning to study art at a college, university, or art training institute deadline March 31.

Horatio Alger National Career & Technical scholarship program, deadline June 15 (first priority), two year program in career or technical degree/certificate program. View application and information at application.horatioalger.org

Irvin Herr scholarship; $1750. award based on character, financial need, academics, achievements, leadership, and other criteria. Deadline May 1.

Road to Safety, create a project about the dangers of drun or distracted driving. Deadline for entries May 10, top prize $1,000 with second and third cash prizes also.  Entry forms available for download at arrivealivepa.com

Scott & Hoffnagle Scholarship for construction related majors attending higher education in a 50 mile radius of Leola, PA or a 25 mile radius of Wilminton, DE. Top award $7,000.  Application materials must be received by May 17.

Spark $2,500 award, hard copy in Naviance.  Deadline May 20.

SVANN Susquehanna Valley Association of Neonatal Nurses offers several $500 awards to high school students entereing the nursing profession, see specifics on application.  Deadline March 31.

Susquehanna Local Chapter of American Chemical Engineers for seniors majoring in chemical engineering.  Deadline to be received by organization March 30.

TFEC (The Foundation for Enhancing Communities) offers many scholarships for Dauphin county seniors.  Please visit www.tfec.org to access information and applications.  Application deadlines vary from April 1-May 31, please check each award to be sure of details and deadlines.  Phenominal opportunities for varied majors! Please check out this website; choose Pennsylvania, Dauphin County.

Triangle Tech for Associates in Specialized Technology and Associates in Specialized Business degree programs. Deadline is April 20.

Work Ethic Scholarship (Mike Rowe) plese check Naviaince, trade technical focus, deadline March 28.

Trade/technical scholarship opportunity from Central PA Chapter ASHRAE for students enrolling in vocational training related to heating, refrigeration or air-conditioning of building.  Deadline April 2. 

SUMMER OPPORTUNITIES:

Juniors- RYLA Rotary Youth Leadership Camp will take place in early June.  View more information www.rotary7390.org/page/ryla  Applications are due to the Counseling office by April 4th.  The Hummelstown Rotary Club  plans to spopnsor one male and one female from applications received.  The program is held at Messiah College.
