MILITARY & RELATED

The US Naval Academy (Central PA Parents' Club) will host a bus tour to the academy on Saturday, March 30 for students and parents.  Contact Mrs. Weber in the Counseling office for an information sheet.  Seats fill early on a first come basis.  Call Joe Innerst at 717-938-4010.

The military recruiters schedule routine lunch visits in the high school, schedule posted on Counseling tab or check with Mrs. Weber 717-566-5331 or email kweber@.ldsd.org.

OPEN HOUSE/S

Seniors interested in heavy equipment oprations, welding, hvac, CNC precision machining, etc. may want to attend one of the monthly open houses at Lehigh Career & Technical Institute.  LCTI.org/go or phone 877-440-7544.

SCHOLARSHIPS/AWARDS

Hershey Area Art Assn for individuals in Dauphin or Lebanon county planning to study art at a college, university, or art training institute deadline March 31.

Hershey Horticulture Society for students with planned major in Horticulture or other related majors as listed. Deadline is March 1.

Hummelstown Arts Festival offers multiple awards for seniors with background in Arts, and accepted in a degree program at an institution of higher learning in the Visual or Performing Arts or Music. Applicants with an Arts or Music Minor will also be considered.  Deadline is March 13.   

Hummelstown Rotary Scholarship multiple awards, minimum 2.5 GPA, financial need, good character, school and community service. Deadline March 1. Minimum GPA 2.5

Irvin Herr scholarship; $1750. award based on character, financial need, academics, achievements, leadership, and other criteria. Deadline May 1.

Lower Dauphin Alumni Association multiple awards based on academics, achievements, school and community service.  Parents DO NOT have to be Alumni of Lower Dauphin. Deadline is February 28.

Mark French scholarship $1000 award to a senior planning to major in physical therapy, sports medicine, athletic training, or a related field of study. Hard copy available in the Counseling office, deadline March 15th.

The Mid Penn Bank Anna Woodside Scholarship for seniors who prove dedication to academic excellence and community service.  Deadline March 8.

Meghan Johnson awards  2) $500. awards for LD students pursuing higher education in the arts. Deadline March 14.

PSECU scholarships are offered to members (must be member by December 31, 2018) Deadline for application is NOON, February 28.

Reece Kelley Foundation deadline for applications to the Counseling office is March 15.  You must have a minimum 3.0 GPA and documented evidence of at least 20 hours of community service.  One male and one female will be selected to receive up to $1,000/year if qualifying criteria is met.

Reece Kelly Foundation Trade School minimum GPA 2.5 to attend  2 Year College, trade or technical school. $2,500.

TFEC (The Foundation for Enhancing Communities) offers many scholarships for Dauphin county seniors.  Please visit www.tfec.org to access information and applications.  Application deadlines vary from March 15 - April 15, to rolling, please check each award to be sure of details and deadline. 

Triangle Tech for Associates in Specialized Technology and Associates in Specialized Business degree programs. Deadline is April 20.

Violet Richardson Award, a $500 award for young women ages 14-17 who volunteer in their community. Your organization also wins $500 if you are selected.  See Mrs. Weber or view in Naviance, please ask if you don’t know where to look. Deadline is Janyuary 31.

Zonta Club of Harrisburg/Hershey offers the 2019 Young Women (ages 16-19) in Public Affairs (local winner $1,000). May apply online at www.zonta.org deadline is March 1, 2019. This award recognizes young women for public and political leadership, volunteer leadership, and more. 

William and Arthur Stambaugh scholarship for students with demonstrated need, minimum GPA 2.0 and demonstrated academic achievement) deadline March 8.

TESTING

SAT PREP courses should check the LD website or informaline (717-566-5320) for information relating to cancellations.

Wednesday Prep Course participants please pick up an updated schedule in the Counseling office or ask Mr. Grove the first night of class.

The deadline for registration for the March 9 SAT is February 8th.

The deadline for registration for the April 13 ACT is March 8th.
