Snacks and treats at school...

Due to food allergies and concern over the health of our students, Londonderry Elementary School is providing the information below to assist you when considering sending snacks or treats to school.

1. Any food item sent to school must be pre-packaged with the ingredient label intact.  We will no longer be able to accept homemade snacks/treats.  Homemade snacks/treats will not be served to students.  We will call you and ask you to pick them up if they are sent in.

2. Prior to sending in any pre-packaged foods, check with the classroom teacher to learn whether or not there are any students with food allergies in the classroom.

In addition to the above guidelines, we encourage you to select a healthier choice when purchasing snacks/treats.  Some suggestions are popcorn, cheese, trail mix, granola bars, fresh fruits and veggies, applesauce, cereals, pretzels or crackers such as Goldfish, Cheez-Its, Wheat Thins, etc.

Non-food snacks/treats are also good ideas.  Some examples include donating a book to the class or school library or giving classmates stickers, pencils, erasers, etc.  Another idea is to send in a plain, white t-shirt that classmates and teachers can autograph for them.  A great way for you to be involved is to arrange a time with the teacher when you may come in to read a book or share a special talent or skill.

Please contact your child's teacher or the school office if you have any questions regarding these procedures at the school. We appreciate your help in keeping our students safe and healthy!
