• Celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday!

Welcome to our website!  I am fortunate to work with a tremendous group of students, staff, and parents who are committed to reaching the potential of every child that enters our doors.  I hope you enjoy this small glimpse of our school.

East Hanover Elementary School is located in the northeastern end of the Lower Dauphin School District along the border with Lebanon County.  Our school is in a beautiful rural setting with some housing developments scattered throughout the township. Our township continues to grow, however, our population of students has remained fairly constant with about 390 students. The East Hanover faculty and staff strive to maintain close, personal relationships with all of our students and parents.

Many people have told me that they are impressed by the caring attitude of the students and staff. Our students have been a part of many projects that demonstrate this - i.e. collecting items for the Grantville Area Food Bank, Food and Clothing for our annual Holiday Project, helping a family with a small house fire replace items that were lost, collecting money for Jump for Heart and the Hummelstown Library, sending school supplies to kids in Africa, and sending donations to families in Japan

At East Hanover we also have a very strong Parent Teacher Organization which supports our school's students and educational mission in a number of ways.   Our PTO funds the transportation costs for field trips, assemblies, and the assignment books for the students in grades 2 - 5.  They have also provided funds for technology, the library, the playground, and many other miscellaneous purchases for the school and students.

We are all very proud of our school's excellent students and our outstanding staff.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at gmessinger@ldsd.org or call me at 717-469-2686.
