Strengthening Families Program
We all want our children to grow up to become responsible young adults and it is perfectly natural to worry about the decisions that our 10-14 year olds will be making.
That’s why we’re offering the Strengthening Families Program to our community.
Over a seven-week course, parents and their sixth graders will learn important information and have an opportunity to practice skills together in a fun, supportive atmosphere. Each session begins with a free family meal. Completing this family program may increase communication, family bonding and joint problem solving skills; and help keep your child from making wrong decisions in regards to peer pressure and the possibility of drug and alcohol use.
We served approximately 180 families and will offer another session in 2016 on Tuesday evenings beginning on October 4-November 15.
There is no cost to underwrite this program until 2013.For more information, please contact Kathy Peffer, Program Director, at 566-6096.Quote:
“The Strengthening Families Program helped me to understand how my child thinks and feels about things at his age and also taught me tools to help with the daily struggles of life.” —ParentStrengthening Families is a joint project of Lower Dauphin Communities That Care and the Penn State Prevention Reseach Center.
