Developing healthy relationships with boyfriends/girlfriends can be difficult for some teens.
The goal of our Safe Dates program is to teach teens the difference between healthy and abusive relationships and helps to equip them with skills and resources to help themselves and friends in abusive relationships. It’s not easy talking about these issues, so having an interactive program in a safe environment can be a big help.
We’ve offered seven sessions since the 2007-08 school year and served 70 students. We offer separate sessions each year for boys and girls. Students participating in the program say they have developed an increase in awareness of issues involving abusive relationships.
The cost to deliver this program is $1,000 per year. Previous funding partners have included Dauphin County Department of Drug & Alcohol Services, Inc.
