Synopsis of Curriculum
AP European History is a challenging course that is meant to be the equivalent of a freshmen college course and can earn students college credit if they take and pass the AP Exam given each May. The course explores European History from Renaissance to the present. Areas of concentration include political, cultural, social, economic and intellectual history. These areas are studied from a variety of perspectives to ensure a balanced view. Since this is a college level class solid reading and writing skills, along with a willingness to devote considerable time to reading and studying, are necessary to succeed. Emphasis is placed on critical and evaluative thinking skills, and essay writing. In addition, students will have to interpret primary sources, statistics, works of art, and maps.
